Industrial seed oils (corn, canola, safflower and sunflower) are NOT good for you, especially when you cook with them.  Heating these oils releases aldehydes, which are known promoters of cancer, heart disease and dementia when eaten or inhaled.  In addition, this process produces trans fats (artery cloggers) and leads to inflammation, especially in the gut and contributes to insulin resistance. Lard is a better option because it is rich in fat soluble vitamins such as Vitamin D (especially ours because they are pasture raised!)  Lard has a lower smoke point which makes it a much better option to use when heating because it does not release the same chemicals that seed oils do.  Grandma was right, cooking with lard makes food taste so good! Your pie crusts will come out so flaky!  Container is approximately 28 oz.
